After the worst of winter had passed and the temperatures finally became milder, we were able to resume our work in February 2020. We visited our neighbor and were allowed to use his sandblasting cabinet to clean our rims (5JKx14) for the T1. This was not only extremely practical but also fun and saved us a lot of time.

Next, we tackled the wiring harness. Here you can see how we crimped the cable ends for the headlights – to finally have some light.

Another thing that was still on our list, was the chrome trim around the bus – specifically, the strips at the belly line, located exactly where white meets blue. This is usually right below the windows or on the front, right at the characteristic „V“. A few chrome strips were already installed, but others weren’t. Therefore, holes were drilled into the new strips for mounting, and then the newly purchased blue inline was threaded through. A little tip here that worked very well for us: It’s best to dip the material in hot water; this makes it softer and more pliable, and thus easier to insert into the deluxe trim.

Spring was already in full swing, and in April 2020 we had a full moon night, which we used as an opportunity for a photo shoot. Attentive observers will notice that the windshield wipers have now been installed. Please try to ignore the dirty tires when viewing the following pictures.

Finally, here are three photos that i just have to share with you.
My sister’s cat had just had kittens, and when she came by with them, I had to seize the opportunity and put one of the kitten in front of the bus.
No substitute for a guard dog around the bus, I suppose, but I was fascinated by how perfectly the baby cat’s blue eyes complemented the sea-blue bus.
